7 August 2019 — Scheduled Downtime
On Wednesday morning, August 7, between 5:30AM and 9:30AM, Computer Science servers and networking will be down for an infrastructure upgrade in our main data center.

Between 6AM and 8AM, electricians will be adding additional power whips to our main UPS in the data center. This will require that the power be turned off for the front row of racks. To facilitate the electricians' needs, IT staff will begin shutting down the servers in those racks at 5:30AM.

Servers will be returned to service when power has been restored.

In addition to servers, the power will be shut off to core network switches located in the racks. This means even though office computers and research computers in other locations will stay on, they will likely not have network access.

To avoid losing work, it is advised to save your work and log out of your computer before 5:30AM (i.e. when you leave work Tuesday) and not use your computer during this time, particularly the 6AM-8AM time while the network is down.

6 August 2019 — Scheduled Downtime
Arthur will be down from 9PM until about 10PM for a system move to another location in the datacenter. During this time authentication services for faculty and staff UNIX/Linux machines will be unavailable.
