Computer Systems Status

1-2 April 2019 — Scheduled Downtime
Contractors on behalf of ITaP Networking will be upgrading network infrastructure in HAAS on the evening of April 1 from 11PM until April 2 6AM. There will be general network disruption.

After the update it will be necessary to make manual adjustments to network switches in a couple of the rooms -- HAAS G049 and HAAS 145. ITaP Networking will be over first thing tomorrow morning to make the adjustments. Until they do, the machines connected to the in-room network switch will be off the network. This includes laptops using the wired connections.

Update@7:30AM: work is taking longer than expected. Estimated time of completion is 9AM

Update@11:30AM: most rooms are now connected. The workstations in HAAS 257 are on-line, but the backend devices and server are not. HAAS G049 is still down.

Update@12:30PM: The backend devices and server in HAAS 257 (XINU lab) back on-line.

7 January 2019 — Scheduled Downtime
cuda.cs will be shutdown @1p to perform maintenance on attached UPS.

2 January 2019 — Unscheduled Downtime

21 December 2018 — Scheduled Downtime
Solaris 10 systems will be updated to the latest available patch level. They will be rebooted between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Friday, December 21. Individual machines should only take about 5 minutes to reboot some time during the the time window, but because of server dependencies the effective downtime may be longer.

19 December 2018 — Scheduled Downtime
CS undergraduate home directories will be migrated to a new server beginning at 9AM, Wednesday, December 19th. All login sessions on data.cs.purdue.edu and the Linux instructional labs computers in LWSN (B146, B148, B158) and HAAS (G040, G056, 257) will be terminated at that time and logins will be disabled until the work is completed. The migration is expected to take approximately four hours. Please contact Science IT at ScienceHelp@purdue.edu if you have questions concerning this migration.
