26 October 2018 — Scheduled Downtime
The CS ML research hosts will be down Friday October 26th at 13:00 until 16:00 to replace a bad memory module and upgrade the OS and video driver.

The server has been experiencing random reboots. This work is expected to address the issue and add support for CUDA 9.1 and 10.

12 October 2018 — Unscheduled Downtime
Some time before 9PM data.cs.purdue.edu became unresponsive. Science IT staff is working to bring it back on-line.

Data was operational by 10PM.

8 October 2018 — Unscheduled Downtime
At about 23:53 data.cs.purdue.edu became unresponsive and was rebooted. It was back up by about 00:07.

8 October 2018 — Scheduled Downtime
The CS Windows fileserver vermouth.cs.purdue.edu will be down on Monday, October 8 while a Dell technician replaces faulty hardware. It should be brief (less than 30 minutes), and will happen when the technician arrives mid to late morning.

The server has been experiencing random reboots. This work is expected to address the issue.

8 October 2018 — Scheduled Downtime
CoS IT staff plan to update the OS on the CS file-server madoc.cs. madoc.cs provides UNIX home directories for most CS faculty and staff. During this time, logins and remote home directory access (via NFS and SMB) will be unavailable. The plan is to start this @9a Monday, Oct 8. The upgrade should last approximately two hours.

1 October 2018 — Scheduled Downtime
The CS Windows fileserver vermouth.cs.purdue.edu will be down from 8:00PM until 10:00PM to install firmware updates on Monday, October 1

The server has been experiencing random reboots. This work is a first step in addressing the issue. There will be multiple server reboots during this time.

17 September 2018 — Unscheduled Downtime
From about 8:14AM until about 8:24AM, LWSN was disconnected from campus networks, including all CS networks and all ITaP networks (wired and wireless). Update: It happened again from about 8:44AM until about 8:54AM. This problem appears to be related to ITaP networking hardware power supply problems. It has been reported.

27 August 2018 — Scheduled Downtime
XINU lab hosts will be down from 8a to approximately 11a. During this time all machines will be shutdown to have RAM installed.

21 August 2018 — Unscheduled Downtime
At about 16:04 Vermouth (Windows fileserver for student accounts) went down for an unknown reason. It was powered on and came back up at about 16:36.

15 August 2018 — Unscheduled Downtime
The CS GPU cluster machine (cuda.cs) had to be rebooted at 10:47AM after hung NFS mounts related to file-server updates on 13 August 2018. cuda.cs was back up and operational by 10:49AM.

13 August 2018 — System Downtime
College of Science IT will be updating CS compute server machines (antor, data, mcXX) to Ubuntu 18.04. During this time HAAS (G040, G056 and 257) and LWSN (B146, B148 and B158) will be temporarily unavailable and reboot sporadically.

4-8 May 2018 — System Downtime
College of Science IT is updating CS instructional lab Linux machines to Ubuntu 18.04. During this time computer labs in HAAS (G040, G056 and 257) and LWSN (B146, B148 and B158) may be temporarily unavailable and reboot sporadically.

10 May 2018 — System Downtime
The CS department web server (www.cs.purdue.edu) and FTP server (ftp.cs.purdue.edu) will be moved to a new server. There should be minimal downtime, but there may be some inconsistency while host aliases are updated to the new server.
