UR2PhD Program Undergrad Research Training

UR2PhD Individual Student Team Applications Launched for the Summer Session

Are you curious about research? Are you hoping to have peer and faculty support as you embark on your first project? Are you looking to build foundational research skills while applying them to a project?

The UR2PhD program is accepting individual student applications for the summer session of the undergraduate research training course through March 29, 2024.

During the summer, the undergraduate research training course is 4-5 weeks long, and meets approximately three times a week. The course will empower participants to develop and apply practical research skills while applying them to their specific research project. Students will learn to read and interpret research papers, conduct literature reviews, and analyze and present data.

To apply, students must identify 1-3 research partners and a faculty advisor. For additional information about the course, please visit: https://cra.org/ur2phd and select on the “Undergraduate Students” tab. Should you have any questions, please reach out to ur2phd@cra.org

UR2PhD Launches New Workshop Series for Undergraduates

The UR2PhD team is launching a new workshop series to help undergraduate students learn more about computing research and cultivate community.

From February through May, there will be a monthly 1-hour virtual workshop as part of the Computing Research Engagement and Awareness Workshop Series. During each workshop, students will engage with other computing researchers, expand their knowledge of the field, and participate in community building activities. Each workshop will have its own format and structure, but will culminate in addressing current research challenges and disciplines, available career paths and preparation, and opportunities for making meaningful contributions as a researcher.

Workshops will be interactive in nature, so all participants are encouraged to attend synchronously. The first workshop will be held on Zoom on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 6:00pm ET and will cover “So you’ve done some research… what’s next?”

All undergraduate students interested in computing research are invited to join. Registration is required, but students can register through the end of the workshop.
