Invitation to Participate in Research Study: Student Perceptions of Code Quality

Hello!

If you are a Purdue computer science student of at least 18 years of age who has passed CS 240, we invite you to participate in an online survey that will take approximately 20 minutes of your time. The purpose of this research project is to learn more about factors that influence students’ perceptions of code quality.

Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw your participation at any time.

We will not collect personally-identifying information in the survey itself. However, if you would like to receive a $5 Amazon gift card as a thank you for your participation, you will need to fill out a second form with your contact information. The link to this second form will be shared with you if you complete the survey.

Please feel free to contact Mary Anne Smart (masmart@purdue.edu) with any questions about this study (IRB-2025-832: Student Perceptions of Code Quality).

The plan for this study has been reviewed for its adherence to ethical guidelines by the Purdue University Human Subjects Protection Program. For questions regarding participant rights and ethical conduct of research, contact irb@purdue.edu
