Quantum Student Organization (QSO) Semester Events
If you've ever wanted to see a real quantum computer in person or learn how superconductors actually work, join the Quantum Student Organization (QSO) for our upcoming semester of events!
We assume zero prerequisites in Physics or Computer Science. Our sessions are designed to be accessible to everyone. We welcome anyone with an interest in this emerging field to come and explore with us.
We have two main events running this semester:
⚛️ Quantum Projects
Tuesdays @ 6.00 - 7.30pm (Tentative). These are hands-on sessions with clear goals and structured outlines. We'll guide you every step of the way, so there's no need to worry if you're starting from scratch! We're here to help you understand how it all works, one step at a time. through these sessions so no worries if you have no idea how anything works in the beginning!
Past topics: Basis/Angle/Amplitude encoding and quantum information basics
The goal is to build your intuition by doing.
⚛️ Quantum Crash Course (QCC)
Mondays @ 6.30 - 8.00pm (Tentative). We're planning three major events for this semester:
- Optics lab tour
- Quantum Materials: We'll cover the physics behind semiconductors, superconductors, and exotic materials such as 2D crystals, topological insulators, spin liquids, and quantum dots. Includes a group tour of the Birck Nanotechnology Center (featuring one of the largest academic cleanrooms in the nation!)
- Quantum Computing & Algorithms: Talks covering introduction to Quantum Computing and quantum algorithms. We are also planning tours for you to see quantum computers up close!
