Colts STEAM Combine - Volunteers Needed Nov. 1

Purdue University and the Indianapolis Colts are teaming up for the first-ever Colts STEAM Combine, and we're looking for Purdue students in Indianapolis to help make it a great day for young learners.

The Colts STEAM Combine is an interactive event that introduces K-12 students and their families to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through the lens of sports. Purdue students and faculty will lead hands-on activities showing how STEAM skills power football both on the field and behind the scenes.

WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 1, noon-3 p.m. (volunteer arrival time: 11 a.m.)

WHERE: Lucas Oil Stadium, downtown Indianapolis

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Volunteers will help run the College of Engineering's Football Launcher activity, where kids act as mechanical engineers. Using cardboard, popsicle sticks, rubber bands, cups and other simple materials, they'll design and build their own catapult, then test how far and how accurately it can launch a toy football toward a goal post. You'll help students brainstorm, ask questions about their design choices, run the testing station and encourage them to improve their launchers after each try.

WHY VOLUNTEER

- Represent your student club or organization and highlight your work in the community

- Share your love of STEAM and inspire the next generation of Purdue students

- Gain hands-on outreach and leadership experience

- Spend an afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Colts
