In U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 rankings released Tuesday (Sept. 22), Purdue’s undergraduate computer science program ranked No. 14 in the nation, moving up two spots from last year’s ranking and continuing to place among the top computer science programs in the country.

Purdue’s strong showing reflects the strength of its computer science education, research opportunities and preparation of students for careers across the technology industry. As artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies continue to transform how people live, work and solve problems, the demand for computer science expertise continues to grow. The department’s continued growth and excellence are supported by initiatives like Purdue Computes, the university’s initiative to shape the future of computer science and technology while meeting that growing demand.

• Purdue Software Engineering: No. 9
• Purdue Artificial Intelligence: No. 16

Purdue’s strong rankings across multiple areas of computer science highlight the breadth of expertise and educational opportunities available to students. Purdue’s graduate computer science program has also received recognition for its education and research. The program is ranked #15 by U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 rankings, up from #19 in 2025. Purdue also placed #13 nationally according to CSRankings, which evaluates computer science institutions based on research publications at selective conferences.
