Meawad Receives CETA Teaching Award

Fadi Meawad, a fifth-year Ph.D. student in Computer Science, was selected to receive the Committee for the Education of Teaching Assistants (CETA) Excellence in Teaching Award.

This competitive award recognizes graduate students who exemplify excellence in Purdue University's learning mission. It is the highest award presented by the University in tribute to exceptional graduate student teachers. Graduate students selected for this award must have demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and have accomplishments in service/outreach and scholarly presentations/publications. This recognition is sponsored by the Graduate School, Committee for the Education of Teaching Assistants, and the Office of the Provost.

On Tuesday, April 23, 2013 graduate student teaching awards are presented at the annual Committee for the Education of Teaching Assistants (CETA) Celebration of Graduate Student Teaching Excellence, held at 7:00 p.m. in Purdue Memorial Union, South Ballroom.

Meawad joined the Department of Computer Science in Fall 2008. His advisor is Professor Jan Vitek, and his research interests include transactional memory, memory managment (garbage collection and persistent objects), concurrency, programming languages, JavaScript analysis, and compilers. He particularly enjoys teaching both computer architecture and systems courses.
