LWSN is on the Internet!

08-09-2006

Dan Trinkle and Brian Board work to get LWSN live. Brian Board getting LWSN live on the internet.

The Richard and Patricia Lawson Computer Science Building is ready for business!

The fiber connections linking Lawson to Haas and Lawson to the Internet were in place and tested at the beginning of the week. Early on August 9, 2006 the departmental and campus routers were changed to make Lawson the main hub for all CS Department network traffic and connectivity between Haas and the outside world is now going through the Lawson data center. There was only a brief, planned network outage as the traffic changed routes.

There is a possibility of some network stability problems as the facilities staff work through configuration glitches or other issues. The facilities staff will maintain up-to-date network and computing status information--planned outages, reports on unexpected outages, etc. - in the System Updates section of our departmental help page.

The smooth change over to the Lawson Data Center was made possible by the CS facilities staff and the ITaP IT Infrastructure group. A special thanks to Brian Board and the rest of the facilities staff for all their hard work to get LWSN online!
