EPICS Team Wins Corcoran Award

02-03-2006

The Fall 2005 Corcoran Award was presented to the EPICS VRI (Volunteer Resource Infrastructure) Team for "Outstanding Design and Project Management." This award is given to individual EPICS students or projects deserving special recognition. Each team member received a monetary award and an engraved paperweight.

The VRI team is working with the Greater Lafayette Volunteer Bureau to develop a system to match potential volunteers with opportunities in the community. The team was recognized for their extensive use of groupware technologies to facilitate collective design and development. These systems provide a central repository for information related to their team mission, procedures, and tools, and provide excellent reference material for future team members. In addition, the team was recognized for its process of engaging new team members in development.

Computer Science majors on the VRI team include Daniel Vacura, Daniel Spaid, Kurt Hakim, James Kupke, and Zachary Catlin. The advisors for the team are CS Professors Cristina Nita-Rotaru and James Early.
