Transformational education

"I have taught thousands of students during my years in the Department of Computer Science. When these students come back to campus, many of them drop by to see me. They talk about their careers and how the Computer Science Department prepared them so well for what they are doing now. They always mention several faculty members who inspired them to be better than they thought they could be. They typically end the discussion by saying something like, "The single best decision I ever made in my life was to come to Computer Science at Purdue University." And, of course, now we have Data Science and Artificial Intelligence as well. So, we will have students in all three majors coming back to tell us what a difference this department has made in their lives."
