Mentoring Program

The CS Graduate Student Board offers a mentoring program for students. This is an informal program where students who are new to the department may seek help from their peers, which, in some situations, may be more valuable than advice from academic advisors or other people. While this program is open to any graduate student in the department, we believe that it will be most useful for students in their first year.

All GSB members act as mentors. These individuals represent diverse group with different backgrounds and working in different areas, and you can choose a mentor, contact him or her via email or phone, and talk to your mentor on any topic.

Each year the GSB holds a discussion with incoming students during orientation week.

2018 Computer Science Mentoring Program

The first couple of semesters of graduate school can be very challenging to navigate, being a new graduate student, entering a new academic system, and experiencing a new culture, both inside and outside of classes. GSB will provide lunch or dinner during meetings, held by mentors and their mentees. Mentors are asked to be in their 2nd academic year or later.
