Just like our previous events, we will be carpooling from Lawson (except no large vans).

Ice Skating

The Graduate Student Board is hosting an Ice Skating event Sunday, Jan 22, 2023 10:30 AM-12:30 PM at the Tapawingo Park Ice Skate Rink.
We have reserved the ice rink for this private event, so we will have plenty of space for graduate students and faculty to spend some time outside.
This is a family-friendly event, so children are also welcome as well!
Finally, we are also paying for skate rentals at the rink for the first 30 attendees!

Description:
Attention all CS graduate students, faculty, and staff. The twice-annual GSB bar crawl is back by popular demand!
We will be meeting separately at Sgt Preston's, and afterwards we will walk together as a group between locations. You are free to join or leave at any point in the night.
Drinking is OPTIONAL, but everyone who attends must be 21+. Be sure to bring your ID. The establishments we will be stopping by will have food as well,
so please come for the food and company even if you do not plan on drinking. You are welcome to bring people that are not a part of the department as long as they are 21+ as well.
Lastly, with Halloween so close, costumes are encouraged! See you on Friday!

Corn Maze Trip

Description: Come join GSB in some autumn fun at northwest Indiana’s largest corn maze!
As a bonus, in the maze, there will be multiple checkpoints where you can collect coupons for local businesses.
Later in the evening, we will gather around a campfire and roast s’mores together. It is sure to be a fun event!

Virtual Event: Computer Science Graduate Town Hall

Description: Once again, it's time for another Computer Science Graduate Town Hall! The format for this town hall will be virtual.
As usual, faculty and staff will be present to answer your questions related to the state of the department.
GSB has sent out an anonymous question form that board members will use to ask questions on your behalf during the town hall.
However, anyone is welcome to ask questions live during the Zoom meeting. GSB will also monitor a live, anonymous question form
during the town hall.

Description: It is once again time for the annual Computer Science Graduate Town Hall. In light of current events, the Town Hall will take place virtually.
As usual, faculty and staff will be present to answer your pressing questions related to the department.

GSB has sent out a survey to gauge the overall climate of graduate students in the department, especially as impacted by the pandemic.
Through this survey, graduate students also have the opportunity to submit questions anonymously. A GSB member will ask these questions at the Town Hall
on behalf of the students. Moreover, GSB will send out an anonymous live question form at the time of the Town Hall from which we will ask additional questions.

As such, please fill out the survey if you are able and ask any questions you have, as they may help other students as well. We hope to see you there!

GSB Ice Skating Event

Description: GSB will be holding an ice skating event this weekend!
We have rented out the ice skating rink and will provide free skate rentals to all those who attend.

In the case of unsuitable weather, we will send out an email to inform of cancellation at least an hour in advance.

The Spring Catch-Up

Description: CS GSB cordially invites you to our Spring Bar Crawl. This event is open to all CS faculty, staff and graduate students.
Friends and family members are also welcome to attend. The only requirement is that you must be 21 years or older to enter the bars.
We will be starting at Sgt. Preston's in Lafayette at 7 PM. We have a reservation there, so ask a waiter if you can't find us!

Social Power Hour
SPH is an event that gives CS graduate students an opportunity for to share their work and learn more about the work of others. Each participant will have a maximum of five minutes to present their research, using slides or other audio-visual aids. The audience will have an opportunity to give, anonymous, feedback via a Qualtrics survey, which GSB will provide.
