Brief Bio

I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at Purdue University. I started the doctoral program in 2014 after completing my M.S. in Information Security, an interdisciplinary program offered by the Center of Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) at Purdue. Before joining Purdue, I completed my B.S. in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Universidad de Panama. My research focus is on Distributed Systems, System Security and Cloud Computing.

My research interests lie in the fields of Distributed Systems, System Security and Cloud Computing.

Industrial Experience

Internship: Research Assistant at IBM Research-Almaden, San Jose, CA (Summer 2015)

  • Member of the Content Protection / Information Security team.
  • Developer for the IBM Open Blockchain Project: Developing decentralized applications over the blockchain technology. Research about the components of Ethereum (a blockchain-based distributed platform) required to develop decentralized applications. Implementation of a "hello world" decentralized application using Ethereum, which was used as basis for the Summer 2105 blockchain hackathon "Hack-A-Chain". Main organizer of the "Hack-A-Chain" event.

Internship: Software Engineer at Delphi Electronics and Safety, Kokomo, IN (Summer 2014)

  • Review and redesign of the security mechanisms implemented in a new infotainment systems.

Design Engineer at TECNASA, Panama City, Panama (2006 - 2012)

  • Senior Specialist: Responsible for the supervision of four field engineers. Our department was in charge of deploying the Cisco and HP network solutions (wireless, switches, routers and firewalls) offered to our customers.
  • Design Engineer: Promoted in 2011. Responsible for the design of Cisco and HP network solutions offered to companies in Panama and other countries in Central America. In charge of the business relationship with our main partners: Cisco and HP. Member of the pre-sale team of the company.
