Saving Your Work

You will be using Mathematica to do assignments throughout the quarter. We will
usually ask you to prepare a report, and we will be asking you to
incorporate the output of Mathematica into your report. To do this, you will need
to be able to save the results of a Mathematica session to a file. Here's how.

In the Mathematica window, pull down the Notebook menu and select the Save As Special option. One of the options will be to save the session (notebook) as plain text

All of the text that currently appears in your Mathematica window will now be saved
to the file that you specified. To prove that to yourself, read the file that
you just saved into a text editor. Notice that it is not exactly the same as what you
saved. What is different?

The saved version of the Mathematica window is not as ``pretty'' as the original.
For example, square roots are displayed differently and the Greek letter for Pi
doesn't appear anywhere.
