Some basic elements of Mathematica

In this section we give you examples of how you can use Mathematica for some familiar and elementary operations. Many of these operations will be mysterious to you at this point, do not let that bother you! As the term wears on you will become familiar with Mathematica's syntax, and you will also learn the basics of scientific programming, and these examples will seem quite elementary. For now they are just meant to give you a brief introduction to the power of modern symbolic manipulation packages such as Mathematica.
