Evaluation Scheme

Midterm examinations. 2x15 points each. 30 points
Laboratory assignments. 15x2 points each. Best 10 will be considered. 20 points
Projects*: 5x5 points each. Best 4 will be considered. 20 points
In-class quizzes: 30x 0.2 point each. Best 25 will be considered. 5 points
Final Exam 25 points

  • All grading is relative.
  • All exams will be open book. Students will be allowed to consult their own copy of the text book during the exam.
  • All laboratory assignments MUST be completed during the assigned laboratory hours. Missed labs will count for 0 points. Missed exams will be graded as 0.
  • Projects turned in more than 24 hours prior to the deadline will be graded out of 110%. Projects turned in less than 24 hours prior to the deadline will be graded out of 100%. Each 24 hour delay in project submission will cost 33 %.
  • Students are required to work independently on lab assignments and exams.
  • *Students are to form teams of 4 each to work on projects. Members of a team are allowed and encouraged to collaborate while working on a project. They will turnin exactly one copy of the project as explained on the project handout distributed from time to time. Details of grading on projects will be announced during the inaugural lecture. (See Academic Integrity Policy). All members in a group will be awarded the same grade in the project they trurnin under the assumption that each member has contributed equally to a project.
