Grading for CS 406 Project
Fall 1999
December 18, 1999
The following method was used to arrive at the final project grade for each student:
  1. The project grade was computed for each team out of a total of 50. The distribution of 50 points was as indicated on the CS 406 site under Evaluation. Each student on a team was assigned the same grade.
  2. Based on the feedback provided by team members and team leaders, and data on meeting minutes, an Individual Contribution Index (ICI) was computed. The ICI varied from a high of 1 (highest contribution) to 0 (no contribution). A total of 25 students were identified with an ICI of less than 1. The smallest ICI computed was 0.3.
  3. The final project grade of each student was multiplied by her/his ICI to obtain the effective grade in the project. It is this effective grade that was used to in the overall course grade out of 100. You will be able to find your ICI along with your grade on the 406 homepageby clicking at Check Your Grades.
Thanks to those of  you who provided feedback on your own  performance and of your team. The information you provided turned out to be very useful in computing ICI and deciding on the final project grades. If anyone has any questions about the project grade, please contact me via email or in person.
