2 Software Developer Openings at Risque Development Group

Job Title: Software Developer

 

Job Description:  The Risque Development Group (RDG) is responsible for developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining the applications within Risque, an enterprise class suite of applications that was developed at and is used exclusively by Purdue University. As has always been the case, the RDG is made up exclusively of student personnel. On a daily basis group members are provided with the opportunity to implement in a real world environment what they are being taught in class. This greatly enhances the learning experience while at the same time builds up strong reference experience that pays big dividends when it comes time to seek out full-time employment after graduation.

 

Developers with C# software development knowledge and skills (or comparable) as well as familiarity with SQL Server database structure and function are being sought to fill open positions within the RDG. The role of the individuals hired to fill this position is to work with clients to ascertain project requirements then design and develop software solutions to meet those requirements. To accomplish this, the developer will work within the existing C# development framework via Microsoft Visual Studio to create the code needed to interface with Microsoft SQL databases and present that information via Purdue web pages.

 

Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Utilize C#/SQL to develop web page functionality for the Risque web site
  • Perform proper testing of web pages after developing them to confirm them to be free of bugs that are in any way obvious in nature
  • Help insure team Wiki documentation is kept updated and accurate
  • Interface with clients across campus to set/determine project requirements/specifications
  • Other responsibilities as required

Requirements:

  • Must be an enrolled undergraduate student
  • Must be willing to learn
  • Must be willing and able to work as a part of a team
  • Self-motivated individual that is willing to take initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills desired
  • Must be willing to work a minimum of 15 hours/week (Spring/Fall) -- Full-time summer positions available

 

Preference:

  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio

 

Additional Information:

Hours are flexible around student schedules, and work study is available.  Up to 40 hours per week commonly available.  Opportunity to learn using leading edge enterprise class software development tools made available to assist with personal and academic progression.
