Research Project 1

Use Machine Learning to Assess Covid-19-related Health Outcome in Nursing Homes

Are you interested in applying your machine learning skills to improve public health? One of the biggest public health crises in the U.S. currently is the high Covid-19 infection risk and the associated mortality in nursing homes. We are recruiting talented and hardworking CS undergraduate students to undertake a research project related to Covid-19. This project will use a large-scale data set of nursing homes in the U.S. 

A good candidate for this research project should have the following qualifications: (1) deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms; (2) ability to handle large-scale data using software such as R or Python; (3) interest in healthcare.

You can choose from two options to work on this project: (1) earn a course credit; (2) work as an RA and get paid at a rate of $10/hour.  If you are interested in getting involved, please write to me with your resume and copy of transcript attached at lu428@purdue.edu.
