A Big List of Fellowships
Incentive Grant: Purdue will pay you to just apply for fellowships. You can get $500 for applying to one fellowship and $250 for the next two you apply for (so three applications = an easy $1,000 given to you for the next academic year).
External Funding
Fellowship Deadline Eligibility
NSF Typically early November of each year No later than start of 2nd year of grad school, U.S. citizen/national or permanent resident alien
National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Typically early January of each year No later than start of 2nd year of grad school, U.S. citizen/national
Hertz Foundation Typically late October of each year U.S. citizen/national, “Orientation and Commitment to the applications of the physical sciences”
DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship Typically middle January of each year No later than start of 2nd year of grad school, U.S. citizen/national
IBM Need to be nominated before November Must be nominated by a faculty member, completed at least one year of graduate study in their intended PhD program
Microsoft Typically early October of each year Must be nominated by “university department chairs, their designees, or by an Microsoft Researcher or Live Labs Scientist” with a max of three applicants per department, preference given to students in their 2nd or 3rd year of graduate study
NVIDIA 2/22/2008 Have completed 1st year of graduate study
ATI 2/15/2008 Very similar to NVIDIA's
