Lydia Coppedge, Director of Development

Hi there! It’s an honor to work with Computer Science. Since joining the Purdue Science development team in June of 2019, I have had the pleasure of meeting all kinds of CS alums- from exciting folks shaping the startup world in California to fascinating government consultants on the eastern seaboard to pillars of our local community here in town.

My passion has always been hearing people’s stories. It’s why I began college studying journalism, and why I finished it studying Nonprofit Management, ultimately graduating with a Master’s in the same discipline from Indiana University’s O’Neil School of Public and Environmental Affairs. I like to say I have the greatest job in the world: getting to know the great alumni of Purdue who are passionate about giving back. Like them, I strive to make our community and our University a better place in my role. Fortunately, this isn’t a difficult task; our community is strong, our University is great, and we have no shortage of allies in our Boilermaker family.

I continue to meet Boilermakers every day, and if you’d like to connect about where Purdue CS could go, I would love to meet you. As a native Hoosier who didn’t get to attend Purdue, I am always fascinated to hear about your campus experiences and where life has taken you since. I am always available at lfcoppedge@purdueforlife.org.

Star Murray, Director of Development

I’m so very excited to join Computer Science! I began as Director of Development in March 2021 and I’m eager to learn about and collaborate with our alumni. My first career after attending Northern Michigan University was in pre-college and early-college programing. Getting to witness young students transition into young adults was life-changing for me. There isn’t quite another time in a person’s life such as the time in undergrad or grad school. The academic and personal growth, way from parents and other familiar comforts, is exponential. The ability to watch that growth first-hand was remarkable. Although my career has taken me down a different path, the absolute best thing about this job is getting to hear alumni share their stories of that time in their life. As I begin the amazing journey in Computer Science, I’d love to hear about your time in the dorms, in your labs, the best professors, the best place to grab a coffee and study, and how Purdue helped you grow as a person. I hope you are willing to share your story. I’m eager to listen. Feel free to email me any time as ssmurrary@purdueforlife.org.
