Congratulations to Professor Ninghui Li! Li earned a promotion to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure.

Li joined Purdue Computer Science in 2003. He received his PhD and MS in computer science from New York University in 2002 and 1998, respectively. He earned his BS in computer science from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1993. Li's research interests are in computer and information security and privacy, with a focus on access control. His research is funded by several projects funded by the National Science Foundation and by IBM. In 2005, he was awarded an NSF CAREER award.

Congratulations, Professor Luo Si for earning a National Science Foundation CAREER Award. The CAREER program recognizes and supports the early career-development activities of teacher-scholars who are most likely to become academic leaders of the 21st century. Si received his CAREER for a proposal that will enable surfers to search the web more efficiently.

Si plans to significantly advance the state-of-the-art in federated text search. To better serve users, Si's proposed framework incorporates multiple type resource representation, utility-centric resource selection, and effective and efficient results merging. His work will serve as an important bridge for moving federated text search research into practical applications.

Mathematics and Computer teachers of grades 9-12 are invited to attend the Purdue Linking Mathematics and Computer Science Workshop for teachers. There is no cost to attend, and attendees will learn to make mathematics more engaging, exciting and relevant to the their students' futures.

Teachers interested in learning how computer science and mathematical concepts relate and how to use computers to enrich current classroom content are encouraged to attend this 3-day workshop held July 14-17, 2008. The daily sessions will run from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm with all meals provided each day for participants.
