Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Consider REU - Research Experience for Undergraduates!  Apply for a handful every summer! Check both computer science and mathematic REUs. Applications are simple. Just do a Google search for REU "computer science", or visit the NSF site: www.nsf.gov/home/crssprgm/reu/. As an underclassman, recommendations are the scariest part of the REU process, but often when you have the courage to ask a professor for a recommendation, he or she is more than happy to help you out. Look for REUs to be sent to you via email and posted on the undergraduate bulletin board. REUs are highly competitive...
