Dr. Spafford has two research projects where they could use some additional students working on them as independent study credit. Senior undergrads or grad students would be fine.

The first project is ESP. In this project, they are building intrusion and attack detectors into a FreeBSD kernel. They need some students to help research specific attacks and vulnerabilities, and then code the detectors for them. Thus, they need students with some advanced knowledge of operating systems, and comfortable with programming in C.

The second task is our Poly^2 project. In this project they  are building a highly robust stack of network servers, using specialized code on multiple hardware platforms. For this project they need some students to help in modifying the FreeBSD kernel to remove drivers and subsystems, and document the results.

Both of these projects are being supervised for Dr Spafford  by Keith Watson. Students interested in working on the project should contact Keith kaw@cerias.purdue.edu  to get additional information.

They also welcome students who aren't looking for credit and simply want the experience. Don't miss out on this opportunity. Take a look at Dr. Spafford's policy at: http://www.cerias.purdue.edu/homes/spaf/courses.html
