The Numerical Simulation Model

This complex system consists of so many components, interactions, and time-dependent processes that it is difficult to predict what will occur when inputs are modified for scale-up or optimization. In addition, this process involves complicated and expensive instruments and biological solutes. For these reasons, computer simulation of the process is essential. Feedback from computer modelling can greatly reduce the number of experiments needed to understand and optimize this process. In addition, simulations can produce results for scaled-up or scaled-down experiments that are impossible to reproduce on the physical equipment.

The bioseparation process is currently simulated by custom software called Verse.
