Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Sometimes my PELLPACK windows start to "smear" across the screen when I move them around.
The server doesn't seem to be able to recover, and soon the PELLPACK software stops working altogether.
This is a problem with the Java viewer which is part of VNC (*).
The VNC developers have not fixed this "smearing" problem yet.
However, we note that it occurs when VNC needs to do rapid Java refreshing for the
PELLPACK windows, especially when
PELLPACK windows are moved around quickly or around the edges of the VNC frame.
If you
set your computer screen's pixel resolution to the highest possible
resolution values then this will be less likely to happen.
For PCs, you need to access the screen properties (right mouse click on the
screen, choose properties and then settings. Set the Desktop Area pixel value to the
extreme right).
* We use the VNC software (Copyright (C) 1997, 1998 Olivetti & Oracle Research Laboratory)
to display the PELLPACK windows in your browser.
2. How do I terminate a session? There is a Quit button on the PELLPACK
top level window and a LOGOUT! in the
"control" frame. Does it make a difference
what order I click on these buttons?
First, Quit PELLPACK by clicking on the Quit button in the PELLPACK top level window.
Then click on LOGOUT! in the "control" frame.
The LOGOUT! button can also be used to terminate a session if some error
occurs during PELLPACK processing that renders PELLPACK inoperable. At that point, just click
on the LOGOUT! button in the top "control" button frame.
