Shahin received his BSc in Computer Science in 2008. Prior to joining Purdue in 2010, he actively participated in Robocup competitions, worked on designing and implementing parallel algorithms in both shared and distributed memory environments, and studied different problems in Computational Biology. As a PhD student, he now works under supervision of Professor Grama and Professor Szpankowski, mainly focusing on applications of statistical and computational methods for designing robust and efficient techniques for analyzing biological networks. Previously, he has worked on problems spanning areas of network alignment, motif detection and clustering. His current research is focused on designing computational methods for analyzing the aging paradigm in baker's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
