Post Doctoral Research Associate

Joined department: Fall 2010

Education:
PhD, Computer Science
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (2009)

Dr. Xu received his Ph.D. degree in computer science and engineering in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2007 and 2008, he was a visiting researcher at Michigan State University, East Lansing, where he worked on the problem of semi-supervised learning and kernel learning. He is currently a post-doctoral researcher in Purdue University, working with Prof. Alan Qi. His research interests include machine learning and its applications to social computing and bioinformatics. He has published over 20 papers in several top conferences and journals, such as NIPS, ICML, IJCAI, AAAI, ICDM, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, Neural Networks, and others. Dr. Xu serves as a PC member or reviewer for a number of conferences, such as Web Intelligence, the International Conference on Neural Information Processing, the International Conference on Pattern Recognition, the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, and others. He regularly servers as a reviewer for a number of journals, such as the Journal of Machine Learning Research, IEEE TNN, TKDE, Pattern Recognition, ACM TKDD, Neural Networks, and others.
