Frederickson Inducted into Book of Great Teachers |

Frederickson joined the Purdue University Department of Computer Science in 1982. His research interests include the analysis of algorithms, with special emphasis on data structures, and graph and network algorithms. Frederickson has been recognized in the past for his teaching as an Outstanding Teacher in Science. He also won the 2004 George Pólya Award from the Mathematical Association of America. He has served on the editorial boards of SIAM Journal on Computing, SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics, IEEE Transactions on Computers, and Algorithmica. He has published three books, Dissections Plane & Fancy, Cambridge University Press, 1997, Hinged Dissections: Swinging & Twisting, Cambridge University Press, 2002, and Piano-Hinged Dissections: Time to Fold!, A K Peters, 2006. Faculty members inducted into the Book of Great Teachers are nominated by students, alumni, or colleagues. Nominees must have served as a Purdue faculty member for at least ten years. Those chosen for the book are faculty members who show dedication to excellence in teaching every day. |
