Elmagarmid, ACM Distinguished Scientist |
Elmagarmid is a Professor of Computer Science and the Director of the Indiana Center for Database Systems and the the Cyber Center in Discovery Park. He joined Purdue in 1988, the same year he was awarded a Presidential Young Investigator Award. Elmagarmid's research interests range on a large spectrum of foundational and application-oriented database research. He is also interested in using cyber infrastructure for science and engineering discovery, in education and research policy, and in innovation systems in developing countries. Purdue Computer Science Alumnus, Naren Ramakrishnan, was also named a Distinguished Scientist of the ACM. Ramakrishnan earned his PhD in computer science in 1997 from Purdue. He is a Professor in the Virginia Tech Department of Computer Science. |
