Insights magazine, the flagship publication of the Purdue College of Science, features coverage of faculty, students, and alumni news from the Department of Computer Science in its Spring 2013 edition, just released.
The Spring 2013 edition of Insights also features "Field Notes: From West Lafayette" by Distinguished Professor Computer Science Mikhail Atallah. Atallah co-founded Arxan Technologies in 2001 and has served on its board of scientific advisers since then. The company has developed software protection that is used in more than 200 million computing devices. Its products provide protection by linking “guards” at different points within software code, making it far more difficult for hackers to access. The Class Notes section of Insights also features news from a several CS alumni. Finally, in his "Last Word: The Importance of Innovation", Purdue University President Mitch Daniels notes, "I’ve met Computer Science undergraduates starting their careers without waiting for graduation, building software companies and successful, mass-marketed iPhone apps before they are old enough to go to Harry’s Chocolate Shop." He references Stoppelman's October 2012 visit, "Perhaps he inspired other Computer Science students to find success through bold, innovative means as well." Insights magazine is produced semiannually and is sent to alumni, friends, faculty, and staff of the College of Science. It covers the College's endeavors in discovery, learning, and engagement.
