Professor Eugene Spafford is the recipient of the IEEE Computer Society 2003 Taylor L. Booth Education Award. The
Taylor Booth Awards Committee cited Professor Spafford's "excellence as an educator" and his "outstanding
contributions to the definition, materials and practice of information security and computing." The
nominations for the 2003 Taylor L. Booth Award were highly competitive, making this an impressive accomplishment
for Professor Spafford. Spafford will be presented with a bronze medal and a $5000 honorarium later in the year. The recipient of this award must meet two or more of the following criteria in the computer science and engineering field: achieving recognition as a teacher of renown; writing an influential text; leading, inspiring or providing significant education content during the creation of a curriculum in the field; or inspiring others to a career in computer science and engineering education.
