Undergraduate Research - How to go about it!

There are many opportunities for CS undergraduate students to register for a CS 490, CS 497 (credit research), work under a funded research on campus or participate in an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates).

I strongly recommend that you start your research in your junior year (semester 6).

Choosing a Topic or Area Search the UGR database option:

http://www.cs.purdue.edu/research/areas/

http://www.cs.purdue.edu/research/ugrad/ugrad_opportunities.html - Current Opportunities

http://www.cs.purdue.edu/research/ugrad/ugrad_database.html - Past Projects

Choosing a Faculty Member:

Visit the faculty’s web page. See if their area of research is the one you would like to get involved. A list of our faculty can be found at: http://www.cs.purdue.edu/people/faculty.sxhtml .

Some professors will have the procedure they want prospective undergraduate research students to follow when contacting them.

Show off your research! There will be opportunities for you to show off what you have learned. http://www.cs.purdue.edu/research/ugrad/
