Benjamin Schumacher is Professor of Physics at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Over the years he has made many contributions to the emerging field of quantum information science, including the discovery of quantum data compression and the coinage of the term "qubit". He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (2005) and winner of the 2002 Quantum Communication Award from the International Organization for Quantum Communication, Measurement and Computing. He has been a Rosenbaum Fellow at the Isaac Newton Institute at Cambridge University and a Moore Distinguished Scholar at Caltech.
