Biography
Sarvjeet Singh is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana since fall 2003. He is working with Dr. Sunil Prabhakar on problems related to Privacy and Security in Databases. His ongoing research is focused on problems of privacy-preserving database commitment and verification, database encryption, and Hippocratic databases.
Prior to joining Purdue, Sarvjeet obtained his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India. During his B.Tech, he worked on various projects in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Databases and Data Mining. For his B.Tech final project, he developed and implemented a multilingual and meaning-based search engine, with the goal of eliminating the language barrier and improving the recall and precision of current keyword search engines. This work was extension of his earlier work at Media Lab Asia, Mumbai (Arm of MIT Media Lab, USA) during summer 2002. During Summer 2001, he worked as a Research Associate at the Center of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE), IIT Bombay where he developed and implemented algorithms for registration and analysis of satellite images.
