PROJECT EVALUATION CRITERIA
[100pts]
- Novelty [20pts] : Either the problem
you are trying to solve has to be novel or the solution has to be
novel. If both are novel that is probably the best.
- Implementation [20pts] : As I
mentioned before, I will assign points also based on the implementation
you have done to demonstrate your ideas.
- Evaluation [20pts] : A lot of it is
about showing that what you are doing or have done improved the state
of the art along a particular dimension. So, evaluation, both doing it
and showing good results will have impact on your grade. nbsp;
- Report [20pts] : I will give 20 points
to the report. Good reports should have identified a clear
problem, state it either formally or otherwise. They also need to have
good pictures to illustrate the problem and suggest new directions.
Appropriate evaluation methodologies need to be described, followed by
results. I also want to see extensive related work for the particular
problem you are attempting to solve.
- Presentation [20pts] : I will give some weightage to the
presentation. 15 minute presentations (2 minute motivation, 5 minute
design/implementation and 5 minute results and 3 minute questions). If
two students worked on the project, I would like to give equal
weightage to both for presenting the work. I would expect a little better
presentation for the two person project than a single person one.
- Paper-worthy submission : Extra 25
points. If your project report can be submitted to a top
conference/workshop without too much extra effort, I will add another
25 points.
