CS 406 Software Engineering I

Fall 2001

Grading for the CS 406 Project

The following method is used to arrive at the final project grade for each student:

  1. The project grade is computed for each team out of a total of 50. The distribution of 50 points is as indicated on the CS 406 site under Evaluation. Each student on a team is assigned the same grade.
  2. Based on the feedback provided by team members and team leaders, and data on meeting minutes, an Individual Contribution Index (ICI) is computed. The ICI varies from a high of 1 (highest relative contribution) to 0 (no contribution).
  3. The final project grade of each student is multiplied by her/his ICI to obtain the effective grade in the project. For example, if the grade obtained in step 1 is 45 and your ICI is 0.7 then your project grade is 45x0.7=31.5. It is this revised grade that is used in computing your overall course grade out of 100. During the week of the final examination you will be able to find your ICI along with your grade on the 406 homepage by clicking at Check Your Grades.
