Spring BBQ
- Hicham reserve Squirrel Park for Friday 18th 5-8:00 (tenetive on weather)
End of year party for graduates
- Have Renate take charge on music and entertainment
  - She should e-mail Barry, Jacques for music…. or just use someones iPod
Tech talks for undergrads - too late in semester for grad students to do this
GSB next year - need to recruit new members

Faculty Search - need a GSB person at each talk/meeting
- Athul should be this person, or at the very least, find someone to take his place
Grad tech talks - Athul's went well, very positive response from the undergrads who attended
Corporate Partners - need to find reps (Chris out of town)
Top Coder event for high schoolers - need volunteers to help out (2nd Saturday of Spring Break)
Next GSB event - after Spring Break

- travel grant - proposed change to have students advisor included

- see what other departments graduate boards do
- tech talks for undergrads - USB/ACM should be driving force

- 17 people RSVPed - going to buy 19 or 20 tickets

Plan to have GSB meeting every other Thursday @ 5 PM

  - need to determine ticket cost and measure general interest
- Video game social - Wiis, DDR, Rock Band and pizzas
- Plan on some kind of social T or W @ 6 PM every 3 weeks

GSB initiative to possibly spruce up the display cases in the halls of Lawson

How has new Ph.D. curriculum helped with students with research? Any stats?
Qual standardization
- Qual 1 - Issue with students taking qual classes when certain professors teach them
- Qual 2 - Standardize among fields? Better communication between student and committee with what is expected from them
Any contingency plans if there is another funding shortage?
BS/MS program
- Will this devalue the Master's we receive?
- Will students in this program be taking away funding from normal Masters/PhD students (via TA or RA)
Display case in basement
Worth updating? Not many people ever walk past it.
