Open Outlook Express and open the Tools menu. Select Accounts.
Click on Add and then choose Mail.
Enter the name that you would like for people to see when they receive mail from you. Click Next.
Enter your CS email address. Click Next.
Choose IMAP from the drop-down list. Enter the mail server names and then choose Next.
Your incoming mail server should look like:
YourMailServer.cs.purdue.edu
Your outgoing mail server should be:
smtp.purdue.edu
Enter your username where it asks for account name and then enter your password. Choose Next.
Click Finish.
Make sure that the account that you just created is highlighted and then choose Properties.
Select the Servers tab and under Outgoing Mail Server check My server requires authentication.
Click Settings... and enter your ITaP username and password and check Remember password. Click OK.
Select the Advanced tab and then check the box for SSL below incoming mail. Click OK.
Your Outlook Express account should now be properly configured and ready to use SSL.
