Job Description
Electronic Communications Intern:

•Position reports to Mary King, senior director for Purdue Marketing and Media
•Intern duties support electronic communications within M&M’s Welcome Center.

Activities:
We are seeking a student to provide support and to facilitate enhancements to back-end development of all of the digital media components associated with the Welcome Center (listed below). Proficiency in the software and programming languages currently being used within the center is highly desirable, but not mandatory. An eagerness to learn is mandatory as well as an understanding of and prior experience with database development.

Among the digital media components and associated responsibilities for the Welcome Center intern are:

• Updates to the Website (purdue.edu/visit) and tour reservation system built in PHP and HTML with a MySQL server database. Also, chat client Pigeon is utilized.
• Extracting reports from Qualtrics survey software that are used to measure customer satisfaction with the website and campus tours.
• Accessing and analyzing Google Analytics associated with the site to measure traffic and determine site enhancements.
• Assist with back-end set up of six kiosks in the center that are and/or will feed content from web URLs locked down in Chrome kiosk mode.
• Add new content to one monitor running the University’s enterprise-wide, digital signage system.
• Assist with integration of the University’s mobile campus tour app (which is also integrated in Purdue’s general app) into the University’s website for a virtual tour.

Hours:
Work days/times are flexible, but preference is during the department’s core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Intern will work approximately 8-10 hours per week. Pay rate is commeasurable with experience.
