Arxan Technologies is a leading provider of sophisticated anti-cracking tools to protect software applications from piracy, tampering, and reverse engineering. Our technology processes executable code and libraries, obfuscating control flow and adding sophisticated but hard-to-detect binary-level "guards".
Our products run on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, and protect applications that run on those platforms (including Windows .NET), iOS and Android mobile devices, and Java. Arxan products are used by prominent software providers for many different types of applications, from high-value desktop applications to DRM software and video games.
We are looking for an intern (paid position) to work with the product team and other software engineers devising effective automated tests of our products and new features. As part of the integrated product team, you will execute your design-review and test-engineering activities using Scrum, a modern team-based agile methodology that keeps process overhead low and engineering productivity high.
This position is primarily focused on designing and coding automated tests targeted at risk by using a white-box test methodology. Additional duties may include some manual testing to find or characterize bugs, verification of customer fixes, Windows system configuration, and other scripting or programming to facilitate the overall automated-test setup.
Required Skills:
Experience developing with Java or C/C++.
Understanding of object hierarchies.
Experience with Visual Studio, GCC, Eclipse, or other significant compiler/IDE tools.
Ability to quickly learn new software tools and technologies, and complex software systems.
Ability to logically think through complex problems to achieve technical solutions.
Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to work with remote staff.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Significant course work and learning toward a bachelors degree in CS or equivalent.
Desired Skills:
Experience devising effective test sets that target identified risk.
Experience with Assembler (any architecture).
Knowledge of binary formats like ELF, MachO, PE-COFF, and app formats on iOS and Android.
Software-security coursework or experience.
Location, Hours, Eligibility:
In our West Lafayette, Indiana, R&D facility or our downtown-San Francisco, California, R&D facility.
Part time during the school year (full time possible); full time during the summer.

Customer Technical-Support Intern, Apply by Oct 27
We are seeking a computer-science student who enjoys both system-level software and working with people, for a long-term paid intern position in our West Lafayette office. Arxan Technologies software-protection products are used by many leading companies around the globe. Work in our Technical Support department and help us respond quickly to both domestic and international customers’ technical questions and requests for help, as you build your knowledge of sophisticated systems from Windows to Mac and Linux, to iOS and Android on mobile devices.
This is an excellent growth opportunity for a technically minded “people person” who is well grounded in operating systems and compilers, and interested in knowing about the bits and bytes. You will interact with our full-time technical-support staff, customers in all geographies, and our engineering product teams to help customers get started with our software products and use them effectively. As you build knowledge, you will help customers solve more and more complex problems to get things working.
Work with our proven anti-hacking products on both mobile devices and workstations: iOS, Android, Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, running on both x86 and ARM. Work in a highly team-oriented environment, dedicated to innovation, customer satisfaction, and growing its employees.
Responsibilities:
Fulfill requests from customers for product licenses after confirming their entitlements against our customer data base.
Respond to Arxan field-engineers’ email requests for licenses and accounts on our product-download server.
Answer routine questions on product installation and configuration while familiarizing new customers with product documentation.
Eventually, be the first point of contact for customer e-mail and phone queries. Create and update support cases in our call tracking tool for all customer interactions. Check that all queries are being tracked.
Over time, build knowledge of product internals and security principles to answer more complex questions and debug and solve customer problems.
Move approved product versions from Engineering staging areas to configured locations on download server for customer access.
Install Arxan products and other software tools in special OS and software-build environments according to customer descriptions, and help reproduce customer problems for analysis.
Produce reports of customer activity and support activity from our tracking and reporting systems. Analyze the data and help identify trends.
Required Skills:
Basic programming ability in C/C++, and preferably also in some other languages such as Objective C, Java, and C#. Some database and networking skill useful.
Good scripting ability in perl, python, or similar.
Ability to install and configure operating systems, build tools and IDEs, and applications on workstations and mobile devices.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to accurately follow multi-step processes, understanding each step to produce reliable results.
Ability to trouble-shoot problems and isolate the causes in order to find a fix.
Ability to learn new operating systems, build systems, IDEs, and programming languages. Desire and ability to learn, over time, the intricacies of operating systems, binary-file formats, linkers, loaders, dynamic libraries, and related technologies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, and diplomacy.
Ability to work with others on complex issues. Proven ability to work in supplier/customer relationship is especially valuable.
Upper-level undergraduate courses in CS. Undergraduate degree working on Masters preferred.
Must be eligible for long-term US employment.
Desired Skills:
Ability to work with Assembly, hex addresses, etc.
Familiarity with Visual Studio, Xcode, and/or Eclipse IDE. Basic ability with XML.
Programming ability in Objective C on Mac/iOS, Android both native and managed, Java, and/or Windows .NET environment.
Interest in software piracy and anti-piracy helpful, including licensing, encryption, obfuscation, common cracking techniques and methods of preventing them.
Experience with building applications for mobile devices, and debugging on mobile devices.
Location and Hours:
In our West Lafayette office. At least 20 hours per week during the school year, and full time during the summer with up to two weeks off (unpaid).
