Job Title:
Academic Services Technology Solutions, Specialist
Job Description:
As a member of the Academic Services Team, this position provides data auditing and report writing to support, troubleshoot, and analyze data. Troubleshoot technology related issues, Develop scripts, strategies and front-ends to facilitate clean and efficient data entry, and provide solutions. Develop, test and support web applications and data management scripts. Create documentation for custom applications. Provide ongoing support and enhancements to existing web applications. Evaluate current business processes to identify opportunities for improvements. Troubleshoot technology related issues that arise from day to day to ensure smooth operations.

Provides data auditing in three major areas: student admissions, student registration, and course restriction errors. Audit data using various reporting mechanisms (Pl/SQL Developer, Business Objects) to ensure data integrity. When data issues arise provide queries to measure scope and identify population. Provide solution to resolve data issues and oversee project to ensure issue is resolved. By designing and analyzing reports to use as auditing tools, this individual identifies sources of data errors and prevents future occurrences, which require both executing reports and developing additional audit possibilities using Business Objects, Infoburst, and other analysis software. Write reports or support the development of reports by other team members, helping them troubleshoot, write, and/or validate their reports. Use approved reporting tools to mine the data and present the results. Supply the finished reports and provide presentations of the results as needed. Understand the database and structure to assure the most efficient use of database reports.

Responsible for developing and managing processes for registering Notre Dame students into ND-originated online courses, registering ND students into online courses from other Semester Online (2U) consortium schools, and registering non-ND students who attend these other consortium schools into ND-originated courses. Make decisions about policies that will govern courses that satisfy University requirements and fulfill major, minor, and concentration requirements; academic course changes for the online student; accreditation and internationalization issues; student transcript issues; and defining of student levels, types, and classification for the non-ND students. Knowledgeable in financial aid, NCAA regulations, and international requirements for ND students who may be affected by online courses. Assist students to troubleshoot and resolve registration issues. Consults with the deans, department chairs, and directors of advising to make additional adjustments to student schedules in continued compliance with academic regulations.

Manage the admission and registration of Saint Mary's, Holy Cross College, and Employee/Spouse students into classes. Nurture a strong working relationship with administrators from the co-exchange institutions.

Additional responsibilities include: classroom event scheduling, while enforcing scheduling policies and training campus wide users in policies and software; course scheduling; class and exam scheduling using EMS scheduling software; building the class schedule, which requires extensive knowledge of the course data structures in the Banner system; summer session admissions and registration processes; and fall and spring registration processes, including staff, faculty, graduate students, and spouse registration benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in technical field and two years of experience in computer applications for monitoring and analyzing data. Requires working knowledge of databases, query tools, and applications. Candidate must be familiar with web development applications and be able to adapt to changing technologies. Innovative technology skills with demonstrated expertise in html, SQL, ColdFusion, Javascript/JQUERY, and data management scripting applications such as VBA (Visual Basic) are required. Inform office of critical software updates, new functionality, and emerging technologies.
- Must have excellent analytical skills and the ability to integrate new technology into office procedures and processes.
- Requires experience managing projects and being able to work as a member of a team with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience working in a university setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with staff on troubleshooting, testing and implementation of report writing processes.

- Ability to acquire new technological expertise as the need arises.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and relate to all levels of the user community.

Job Title:
Application Development Specialist

Job Description:
Develop web applications that are in accordance to the University Information Security Standards and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Provide ongoing support and enhancements to existing web applications. Evaluate current business processes to identify opportunities for improvements. Troubleshoot technology related issues that arise from day to day to ensure smooth operations. Develop scripts, strategies and front-ends to facilitate clean and efficient data entry. Assist Office of the Registrar staff with processes such as student registration, commencement and record keeping as required and assigned.

Specific Duties include:
- Meet with end-users to review business processes and look for opportunities to improve services and business processes.
- Develop, test and support web applications and data management scripts.
- Create documentation for custom applications.
- Train end users on new and existing applications.
- On-going research of new developments in web technologies.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Software and hardware (re)configuration, maintenance, and upkeep.
- Inform office of critical software updates, new functionality, and emerging technologies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technical field, as well as a working knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Candidate must be familiar with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript/jQuery. Windows troubleshooting skills a must.

Successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be solution-driven, and serve as an excellent trainer of technical processes.

Must be capable of working accurately, independently and as a member of a team with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Banner enterprise systems
Experience with Oracle database technologies
Experience with server-side programming such as PHP, JSP, ColdFusion, or Ruby
