Entry Level QA Tester
Nationwide Enterprise Delivery Services (a business unit w/in Nationwide Insurance) is searching for an Entry-Level QA to join its team. This specific group is called Agency Solutions. Projects are development (sometimes in conjunction with lines from the application development center (ADC)) in the application development area up through the integrated testing phase and then handed off to the SQA group. The SQA group then handles all of the system testing, maintenance testing, regression testing, etc. (using Ruby/Cucumber).
The main current initiative within AS is called the Agency Gateway Sales and Services (AGSS) – the initiative that these resources will work on. AGSS is an agent-facing app for auto and property policies, which is replacing a 30-40 year-old system.
These resources will handle testing using Ruby on a Cucumber platform within the Ruby Mine Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Initially, these resources will be tasked with maintenance duties and running the automated Ruby test scripts that were created by the more senior level QA resources on this team. As these resources get more involved in this role and gain more experience, they will be allowed the opportunity to get “deeper” into development of the test scripts.

- Understanding of object oriented principles; understanding of how to create objects; and, some experience building web apps (through academics or professional work)
- Drive, aptitude, and willingness to learn quality assurance using Ruby, Cucumber, Ruby Mine

- If the Candidate is interested in permanent employment, Nationwide’s protocol for filling permanent headcount is to first look internally at current permanent Nationwide employees, and then to look to their contractor pool prior to looking externally. Therefore, if a person is a contractor at Nationwide they are given a look for permanent positions prior to external candidates.
