Mr. H. Richard Lawson
M.S. 1968, Computer Science
Richard Lawson established Lawson Software in 1975 by recognizing the need for pre-packaged enterprise technology solutions as an alternative to customized business software applications. The visionary thinking of Richard and his Lawson Software co-founders, brother Bill Lawson and business partner John Cerullo, have helped Lawson Software position itself as the leader in Web-addressable business applications. The co-founders' dedication to customer service and their strong belief in testing and implementing advanced technologies in all their innovative products have led to the company being named number one in Web-enterprise application software revenue by International Data Corporation. Since the company's beginnings, Richard has remained a hands-on technologist and manager, reaching far beyond his original vision to differentiate Lawson Software in the competitive marketplace by harnessing the power of the Internet. Today, the company stands as a $340 million entity, staffed by a legion of technical developers, expert customer service representatives and joined by prestigious business partners. Richard's active management style and passion for new technology is a result of his beginnings as a senior programmer.
In addition to his activities at Lawson Software, Richard is a frequent guest speaker at technology industry events worldwide. Richard enjoys spending his free-time playing tennis and golf. Richard holds a bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma Christian University and a master of science degree in computer science from Purdue University.
