The 2012 year not only brings a fresh start, but one of significant importance to us as the first computer science department in the country; 2012 will be our 50th anniversary!
Since its inception in 1962 as the nation's first Department of Computer Science, Purdue Computer Science has been recognized as one of the top programs in the nation. This visionary department has come a long way from meager beginnings – starting with a faculty of seven to the present day constituency of forty-two. This level of success is only possible through the outstanding achievements and support from dedicated alumni and friends like you. Thank you for representing Purdue University and especially Computer Science so well.
2012 will not only be a year of celebration for the Computer Science Department, it will also be a year of change as we search for a new University President and a new Computer Science Department Head. Please know that as faithful friends and alumni, you will be informed as soon as decisions are made. We have appreciated your support over the years, and continue to value your investment in the future. It is only through your continued and generous gifts that we are able to provide scholarships, enhance our program, and attract world-class faculty to the Computer Science Department here at Purdue University.
As we begin our anniversary celebration this fall, feel welcome to stop by for a visit. We will have various activities planned throughout the school year and will update our website with the events. If you have questions or need any assistance during your visit to our Computer Science Department, please feel free to contact me.
Hail Purdue!
