Can I choose my team?
You should identify five teams in which you are most interested as you will be asked to list those in order when you sign up online with EPICS. EPICS will try to place you according to your order of preference.

Are conflicts permitted?
A) Conflicts with Lecture:
Students registered for 1 credit with a documented conflict with the lecture hour are required to accrue at least five (5) lecture credits via skills sessions and/or watching a recorded lecture via the Video Server. Students who have a class conflict with the scheduled EPICS lecture time must document this to their TA or to Rose Ponto in the first week of the semester (no change from last year). To receive credit for a videotaped lecture, complete the Lecture Make-Up Attendance Form.

Students registered for 2 credits with a documented conflict with the lecture hour are required to accrue at least seven (7) lecture credits via skills sessions and/or watching a recorded lecture via the Video Server. Students who have a class conflict with the scheduled EPICS lecture time must document this to their TA or to Rose Ponto in the first week of the semester (This is a change from last semester). To receive credit for a videotaped lecture, complete the Lecture Make-Up Attendance Form.

B) Conflicts with Lab:
If the scheduling information is available, determine how the Team Lab Time fits into your schedule. Each team is scheduled for a weekly two-hour lab. Although it is preferable that you are able to attend both hours of the lab, new students are permitted to schedule in conflict for the second hour of the lab. How do I get EPICS to count as a CS elective?
Students who want to use EPICS as one of the CS electives should register to CS 490D for a total of at least 3 credits, certified as CS credits by the CS EPICS coordinator (Dr. J. Early). Credits for CS 290E, CS 490E and excess credit of CS 490D can be used as free electives. For queries contact: Janice Thomaz.

What is the minimum and maximum credit hours?
In a particular semester you can register for EPICS for one or two credits. It is recommended that in your first semester of EPICS you register to only one credit. You can take EPICS as many times as you want, however, at least three credits of CS 490D can count for at most one CS ELECTIVE. For queries contact: Janice Thomaz.
