Financial Support: GAANN Fellowships

The department awards a number of Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need fellowships. GAANN recipients must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, demonstrate financial need, and have a doctoral degree objective. The GAANN program, supported in part by the U.S. Department of Education, consists of a five-year financial aid package. There will also be funds available for travel to professional meetings and the purchase of materials related to your studies and research. In the first year of the GAANN program, fellows rotate through selected research laboratories. In the second or third year, fellows participate in a teaching mentoring program. In other years, fellows may be supported as research assistants. For more information see this website of the U.S. Department of Education.
