Orientation: Access to Computers
Public access computers are located in the computer lab on the first floor of Stewart Center, in the Purdue Memorial Union, and the Undergraduate Library !!!
- 1) Set Up a Purdue Career Account:
- Your online admission letter provides the information needed. To activate your career account, you need your Purdue University Identification Number (PUID), which was provided in your online admission decision letter. You will also need an initial account setup PIN. The initial account setup PIN was sent to you by email from the Graduate School's Admissions office after you reviewed your online admission decision letter. Contact gradinfo@purdue.edu with questions.
- 2) Access your CS account:
- Got to the CS portal here: https://portals.cs.purdue.edu/

Log in with your Purdue Career Account information. Confirm password manager option.
You should see a page with
Account Access
Your account information
Click on the "account information" link, accept the terms and submit.
This takes you to a page with your CS login and initial password. You need to remember it.
- 3) Configure your Purdue Career Account to receive
- e-mail:
- Make sure your Purdue e-mail is configured to "store" by visiting https://directory.purdue.edu/directory-bin/nph-update.pl (use your Purdue Career Account login/password) Go to the "service" line toward the bottom of the page. If it lists "reject" change it to store.
- You can get full details for accessing your Purdue mail account at http://www.itap.purdue.edu/email/
- 4) Change your password:
- ssh to ector.cs.purdue.edu and use the "passwd" command.
- 5) Set up wireless access:
- Visit http://www.itap.purdue.edu/airlink/
- 6) Encounter a problem:
- Visit http://support.cs.purdue.edu/help/Trouble or ask during our "Facilities" orientation session.
