Principal Investigator: Eugene Spafford

Research Assistants: D. Corcoran, S. Nystrom

Sponsor: COAST Laboratory sponsors

This project addresses smart card and biometric methods of authentication. The work studies the effect of integrating smart cards, iButtons, and biometric devices into various environments such as different operating systems (e.g. Unix, MacOs, NT) and portable devices (laptops, Palm Pilots). Other topics addressed include user acceptance, visualization, common user interface, OS interoperability, and usefulness of the methods. Additionally, the project involves developing smart card applications such as SSH on top of a resource manager.
