Characterizing Misuse Detection

Principal Investigator: Eugene Spafford

Research Assistant: T. Daniels

Sponsor: COAST Laboratory sponsors

This project's goal is to determine the characteristics of network misuse detection. Attempts are made to determine the functions that network misuse detection can perform reliably in different environments. Also, the effects of a changing network infrastructure on the capabilities of network misuse detection systems are being investigated. In addition, this project examines the inherent flaws of network misuse detection systems.
